To our customers, our partners, and those who’ve followed us over the years:
One45 has been providing products and services to the medical education community since 2001. In 2020, 19 years later, we’re completely overhauling our brand — everything from our logo, to our website, to how our products and online services look and feel.
These changes will be rolled out slowly and carefully — with lots of user feedback and a focus on keeping disruption to an absolute minimum — over the course of this year and into next. We’re starting today with the launch of our new website and logo.
This is a big change for us and our customers, in a year of many big changes and disruptions. Let me tell you a bit about why we’re doing it.
A pressing need for precision medical education and data-informed decision making
One45’s modules have always focused on enabling data collection: evaluations, scheduling, patient encounter logs, curriculum management. These capabilities, and others like them, enable our customers to collect vast amounts of data on their programs and learners each day.
The potential value in that data is enormous. True Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI), real programmatic assessment, personally tailored career and academic advice — these elements are the future of medical education. That future is data-informed, technology-enabled, and individually customized; it’s precise.
And it’s urgently needed.
One of our founders, Dr. Ric Arseneau, used to tell me that he started One45 to prevent learners from “slipping through the cracks” of medical education. What better metaphor for today? Students’ and residents’ career trajectories are being affected in non-obvious ways by COVID-19. Medical schools are confronting a forced transition to virtual teams and online learning, novel forms of assessment, and new clinical realities. Cracks are appearing and starting to spread. We need to use the data we collect to prevent these cracks from affecting our learners and the quality of the care they provide.
So: this brand relaunch signals an expansion of One45’s focus. In 2020, we are launching a new addition to our solution set, One45 Analytics. It brings together all the data you collect, whether it’s One45 data or not, and makes it useful and usable for timely, data-informed decision making.
We’ve been working on this module in collaboration with schools across North America for the past 3 years. We believe that One45 Analytics will prove invaluable in navigating towards a new normal … and beyond.
Our enduring commitment to world-class software for medical education
One45 got its start in the first days of cloud computing and Web 2.0. Since then, One45 has become more full featured, more stable, and more effective. With the introduction of One45 Analytics, we’re pushing forward into new territory. We want to make sure our entire product comes along for that journey.
Through 2020 and beyond, we are going to be putting a fresh, modern look and feel on our software. You’ll see cosmetic changes at first: the logo, the website, the interface shells, etc. Following that you’ll see more substantive things: mobile-enablement on eDossiers, careful rearchitecting of key interfaces, and a consistent look and feel across all modules.
We’re committed to delivering an exceptional, user-centric product experience. We’ve completely overhauled how our product teams work to ensure user feedback is captured along the way and that we put far more emphasis on design. For an example of this, check out our newest CBME features.
What this brand relaunch does NOT signal is a change in our commitment to medical education. It underscores it, reinforces it, and emphasizes the fact that we believe in making best-in-class products to help medical education programs train world-class physicians — especially in today’s changing circumstances.
